What differentiates The Pocket Doctor from other health information sources online?
The Pocket Doctor provides comprehensive information to allow people to truly understand the diseases that affect them, talk confidently with their doctors, take an active part in their own care, and share in decision-making for the best health outcomes. From common problems to life threatening emergencies, we’ve got you covered.
We cut through the fads and crazes to give you solid facts and practical guidance you can use every day. We believe your decisions should be based on the best available medical evidence, not on some writer’s personal convictions. We read thousands of research papers to ensure we can give you the most reliable information. We want you to feel confident that you are getting the knowledge you can trust.
We don’t have any other agenda. We don’t have diets or supplements to sell you, and we don’t have any commercial interests to influence our advice.
What health conditions do your resources currently cover, and are there plans for more topics in the future?
Our published reference guides are The Menopause Handbook and The Gout and Pseudogout Handbook. Both are available in multiple formats, including print and ebooks, to read on your favourite mobile device.
Look out for The Type 2 Diabetes Handbook and a guide for testosterone replacement in menopause, both of which will be published soon.
We have over a hundred potential titles for other medical conditions and problems, so keep in touch so you won’t miss out!
How do I know that the information is up-to-date, reliable and not influenced by outside interests?
We are committed to providing only evidence-based information. We read thousands of peer-reviewed scientific journals to ensure what we put into our books is up-to-date and accurate. Where there are uncertainties, we tell you. We’re a small company free from any third-party influences.
Can caregivers, family members, or professionals also benefit from your resources?
Absolutely. We begin each book with an ‘in a nutshell’ chapter that gives a quick overview of the subject, ideal for a partner or family member to get the essentials. It’s important to involve friends and family; our question-and-answer format makes it easy to dive in and get the specific facts you want.
Since everything is up-to-date and evidence-based, many healthcare professionals find Pocket Doctor resources helpful.
Can I preview a chapter or section before purchasing a book?
Yes, you can! If you head to the Amazon sales page and click the ‘Look Inside’ button, you can read the first few chapters of each book. Here are the links:
How does the mentoring program work?
Menopause can be incredibly challenging. Having an expert to guide you through the process step by step can be transformative. Studies show a significant rise in cancer rates with high consumption of these cooked foods. Let’s look at the risks posed by these toxins and how you can reduce your risk.
Is supermarket bread an ultra-processed food?
Bread. It’s a delicious staple of our diet. For convenience, most of us pick it up from a supermarket. But is this mass-produced bread ultra-processed? Does that mean it’s bad for us? The Pocket Doctors delve into bread additives and look for healthy choices.
How is menopause diagnosed?
Being clear about whether you have entered perimenopause is important to explain any symptoms you may be experiencing. Menopause is also a pivotal phase of life when your body’s needs change. Meeting those changing needs can help you live a long and healthy life. Should you self-diagnose, or do you need a doctor to know for sure?
